Lamar Farm, Gravel Pit and Cell Tower Tour

On Monday June 15, 2015 the Blue Mountain Community Foundation Board and staff visited the Lamar Farm, located 30 minutes north of Walla Walla on the Touchet River.   The Lamar Farm was established in the 1860s with the Lamar Brothers of Weston, Missouri acquiring it in 1872.  The original cabin, built in 1863, remains on the property.  Wheat is the main crop; the land also contains a gravel pit and is the site for a cellular tower.  Fulfilling the wishes of the donor, farm revenue is dedicated to scholarships, half for Whitman College in Walla Walla and half for graduating seniors for the Lamar brothers’ home town.   The Community Foundation received the farm in 2000.   Photos are of the site visit and include pictures of the plaque about the farm’s history placed on the property by the Foundation.
