Blue Mountain Community Foundation welcomes you to its 2011-12 Grant Year. It is our goal to make the grant application process easy for the grant seeker and also greener for our environment, requiring much less paperwork.

Who May Apply

Tax-exempt 501(c)(3) charitable organizations in the Foundation's service area, namely Columbia, Garfield and Walla Walla Counties in Washington, and the northern parts of Umatilla County in Oregon (Milton-Freewater, Weston and Athena, Oregon, areas). In limited cases, other charitable entities are considered in the Foundation's sole discretion.

Funds Available

The majority of funds available are designated for use by agencies serving Walla Walla County. A smaller portion is available for grants to agencies outside of Walla Walla County who fall within the Foundation's service area (see above). Grant awards generally range from $1,000 to $10,000, with the average award being $3,000.

When will awards be made?

Successful proposals will receive a check at the Foundation's Annual Meeting in late October, 2011. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified by mail.

How and to Whom are Grants Awarded?

Grant applications are reviewed by the Foundation's Grant Review Committee, which makes recommendations to the Board of Trustees for final determination. Grants are typically awarded for one-year periods.

Grants are generally directed across the domains of a Healthy Community: Basic Needs, Education, Health & Wellness, Arts & Culture, Economy, Environment and Neighborhoods & Communities. Grants usually will not be made for annual fund drives, field trips, travel to or in support of conferences. No grants will be made for sectarian religious purposes nor to influence legislation or elections. No more than four (4) applications per organization may be submitted.
