Giving Strategies

To help you achieve your goals for giving, we tailor a giving strategy to a charitable fund. There are several types of funds. Foundation staff is available to discuss which fund is appropriate for your personal philanthropy.

Unrestricted Fund

You can use your gift to meet ever-changing community needs - including future needs that often cannot be anticipated at the time your gift is made. We evaluate all aspects of community well-being - arts and culture, economic development, education, environment, health and human services, neighborhood revitalization, and more. The flexibility of your unrestricted gift enables our grant review experts to respond to the community's most pressing needs, today and tomorrow.

Field of Interest Fund

You can target your gift to address needs in an important area of community life. The arts. AIDS. Aging. At-risk youth. You identify your personal interest area when making your gift; our Board awards grants to community agencies and programs that are making a difference in the area you select.

Designated Fund

You can direct your gift to a specifc agency or purpose. Help provide ongoing funding for a senior center, museum, your church, or virtually any nonprofit charitable organization. You identify the recipient you wish to benefit through your gift; our staff manages the annual distribution of funds.

Donor Advised Fund

You can have ongoing involvement in the use of your gift. You work with our professional staff, identifying ways to use dollars from your Donor Advised Fund to address the issues and needs you care about most. Your recommendations are submitted to our Board for approval; we then distribute grant dollars.

Scholarship Fund

Donors specifcally interested in promoting education often establish Scholarship Funds - a special sort of donor advised fund. Scholarships may support any level of education and can be directed toward students attending a particular school, studying in a particular ield or coming from a particular geographical area. The Blue Mountain Community Foundation helps you administer the funds within the tax laws regarding scholarship grants. If you wish, the Foundation also can help you establish selection criteria, publicize the scholarship and choose scholarship recipients.

Sustaining Endowment Fund

You can establish a fund which supports the operating costs of the Blue Mountain Community Foundation. Annual distributions enhance the mission of supporting community philanthropy.
