Board of Trustees
Mark Thompson, President
Thompson is an owner of McDonald-Zaring Insurance Agency. He helps school districts and employers with risk management and helps the homeless through the Christain Aid Center.
Dan Reid, Vice-President
Reid is general manager for the building contracting firm of Opp & Seibold. He is a tireless community volunteer, having served as Rotary President and on the Walla Walla Public Schools Facilities Planning Committee.
Craig Sievertsen, Treasurer
Sievertsen is a Vice President with Banner Bank and is recognized as one of "Banner's best." A graduate of Walla Walla High School and Washington State University, he returned to Walla Walla with his wife, Julie, to raise his family of four children. Active in many civic and community activities, he is a member of the Sunrise Rotary Club. Sievertsen lends his service to the Audit and Budget Committees.
Leslie Brown, Secretary
A native of Milton-Freewater, Oregon, Brown stays busy with her families apple, cider and wine enterprises. Her work experience also includes Higher Education administration. She also serves as a member of the Scholarship Committee.
Peter Harvey, Immediate Past President
The Treasurer and CFO of Whitman College, Harvey is a Chartered Financial Analyst. He serves on the Foundation's Executive and Investment Committees. The father of two is married to a local math teacher.
James Hayner
Partner in the law firm of Minnick-Hayner, Jim is a Walla Walla native, graduating from Walla Walla High School and Washington State University followed by Stanford Law School. Hayner chairs the Foundation's Investment Committee and also lends his service to the Governance Committee.
Steve Johnson
Known better locally-and soon to be internationally with a recent Simon & Schuster book deal-as Sam McLeod, author, Steve Johnson has a separate career in venture capital. Active along with his wife in many community activities including Rotary, he serves on the Foundation's investment committee.
Carol Varga Morgan
Morgan is a registered nurse and has become expert in organizing golf tournaments with several Pac-10 championships under her belt. Morgan is active with the American Association of University Women and Carnegie Art Center. She also lends her service to the Foundation's Budget and Scholarship Committees.
Terry Nealey
An attorney in Dayton, Washington, Nealey has been involved in every major civic project over the past several decades and has been recognized as a Dayton "Citizen of the Year." He is one of District 16's representatives to Washington's Legislature.
Larry Siegel
Siegel was elected to the Board of Trustees in November, 2009. A local attorney, he has volunteered across the community from the community college foundation to his current position as a board member of Helpline.
Kathy Small
Small joined the Foundation's Board in March, 2008. For over 30 years, Dr. Small served Walla Walla Community College retiring as Vice President of Student Services. After departing WWCC, she launched a small consultancy, STC, specializing in leadership training and conflict resolution. Small volunteers throughout the community and enjoys her husband, grown children and grandsons.
Richard M. Wylie
Retired from the Wylie Monument Company, Wylie remains active in the community with an interest in local history. Wylie is chair of the Scholarship Committee and also serves on the Audit Committee.
Anne-Marie Zell Schwerin
Currently the Executive Director of the YWCA of Walla Walla, Anne-Marie is credentialed as a CPA. She is active throughout the community, serving as Chair of the Walla Walla Homeless Alliance and as Treasurer of the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence. She joined the Foundation's Board in March, 2008.
