IRA Charitable Rollover – A powerful incentive for giving
Walla Walla, WA - Since 1974, millions of Americans have saved billions of pre-tax dollars in Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs). Thanks to continued savings and investment returns, an estimated $3.6 trillion is currently invested in IRAs, and the total continues to grow. On Thursday, August 16, 2006, a federal law was enacted allowing IRA owners to share the wealth of their retirement savings by giving directly to charity-without first counting it as income and paying income tax.

Endowments Show Strong Returns to begin 2006
WALLA WALLA – Blue Mountain Community Foundation released information on its Pooled Endowments for the time period ending March 31, 2006. All funds grew at rates faster than comparative indexes. Investment Summary Reports are available through the Foundation’s website.

The goal of the Foundation’s endowment is to preserve the original gift, grow the fund so grants can be made without fund levels shrinking, cover costs and protect the purchasing power of the dollar.

Revised Grant Guidelines are now available
WALLA WALLA – Guidelines for grant proposals to the Blue Mountain Community Foundation have been released. Proposals are due July 1, 2006. Through any array of discretionary funds given by local donors, BMCF is able to grant over $250,000 to area non-profits. Any 501 (c) 3 located in the Foundation’s service area, or providing services in the Blue Mountain region are eligible to apply.
